I love the yellow umbrella in this guy's bike-thing.
These eco-cabs bring you around Dublin, for free! The cyclist is sponsored by whoever has their logo on the bike, and you just give them a tip if you want.
I think it's a brilliant idea, what do you think, and have you come across them in other cities?

We saw a few of them but didn't have an occasion to try one. It did seem like a good idea, though. I've never seen them anywhere else. I'm sure a good idea like that will spread.
ReplyDeleteI want one.

I'd give him a big tip just to be able to take a ride in that! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteNever seen one and I'm pretty sure here in the states the ride wouldn't be free.
I remember similar cabs in Edinburgh, but they definitely weren't as cool looking and they were more so geared towards luring in drunk tourists/students and taking them for all the money they were worth! :) This is a neat idea though... If I ever make it to Dublin, I'll keep an eye out for them! :)
ReplyDeleteIt does look pretty entertaining but I've never seen anything like it before.

Thanks for all your comments.
ReplyDeleteI assumed the idea was copied from another city, but as nobody else has come across them for free, maybe it's an Irish novelty.
I did go in one in London, and was charged £15 to go just down the road, not knowing how near my target was!
Oh I love this post! I have never seen anything like it. But what a fantastic idea! And what a strange contraption. Have you ever ridden in one? How was it?
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow umbrella hanging there. It's so cheery!
Thanks for stopping by my Ruby Tuesday. It wasn't salmon. But it was mozzerella. It was just a little frozen pizza that had completly covered in freezer burn. Yum, huh?!
Are they new? I didn't see any when I was there just over a year ago. It's a brilliant idea and one I would love to have taken up.
ReplyDeleteIt's free? What a remarkable system, I wish we had that here.
ReplyDeleteI read this some time ago. but had trouble commenting.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea. But is it meant for tourist or for everybody?
