In the last post, Maggie May calls me an "old hand" at concerts, and to some extent I am (getting there!) but this was different.
We arrived at 5.20 for our 8.00pm concert, and immediately began tuning, sound checks and then rehearsals with the Tenor, the Choir and the Dancers.
Then we were directed to the Dressing Rooms, backstage. Oh my goodness, I just HAD to take a photo!
I couldn't believe it! The lights and all!!
There were 2 rooms for the men and 2 for women, so no overcrowding, lots of space to do make-up!
They also provided a room with tea, coffee, sandwiches and a fridge full of water.
There was a champagne reception before the concert, and we were invited to hang out there (but only for a little while, as we had to get back up to get our tuning done), and some of us may have had a little sip to settle our nerves!
Then it was out on stage, and the music began.
I'm the third horn from the left...
I have a little video clip that I hope you'll enjoy, but can't get it to upload and my "techie experts" are away, but I will post it in the next couple of days.
I had to blink a few times and assure myself that I wasn't dreaming! It was a really great evening!
How exciting! Well done you! All of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a thrilling event! I'm so pleased you had fun.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting! I love the pictures but can't wait for the video! Please let me know when you get it up!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it went so well, Mimi
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I knew that it would be great! It sounds so exciting to be in the 'big time' of show biz. Funny how we can go to such important events or places and feel like we should pinch ourselves.
ReplyDeleteRe the Irish connection and Newfoundland. Very big. The southern part is so Irish. There were times I felt that I had been here before. You can really hear it in the voices. In Bonavista there was the third largest Orange membership/hall in the world. It needs a lot f work now and I'm sure membership is almost nil now.
Newfoundland is now on my list of places to visit! Unless you have a huge chapter in your book, in which case I might settle for your account and pictures!
DeleteVery, very interesting re the Irish connection; those settlers must have felt right at home, the landscape is so similar to here.
Thanks everyone for your comments, I will put the video in a new post, then it will show up in your readers.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Mimi! I'm glad you had a good time and all went so well. It looks very exciting in the photos.
ReplyDeleteWas so thrilled to read this and to see you playing! It is great to be able to do these performances and don't you feel great afterwards? Always worth the effort of the practices & rehearsals.
ReplyDeleteMy *big one* is on Saturday! I might be taking a walking stick! There will be over 400 singers so no one will notice! (I hope!)
