Happy 2011 to everyone!

Happy 2011!
"I can't believe it's 10 years since we planted our Millennium Tree! We're a decade into the Millennium." I wrote this earlier, then we were out and I realised it's not 10 years, it's 11!
I simply cannot believe it! Where has this time gone?

I won't even begin to think of all that has happened in that time.
But yesterday, I ran into a friend with whom I worked when Gymboree had a shop in Dublin. I hadn't seen her for 6 years and talking over old times gave me a quick realisation of how time has moved on!
When we planted this tree, it was just a tiny sapling, smaller than my then 4 Y/O son. Each year, in June, Hubby takes a photo of son with Millenniun Tree, and about 4 years ago, the tree's growth had outstripped his. And his has outstripped mine! So, 11 years on, I am definitely the smallest in the house, by a long shot..
But enough ramblings. It's been a great year, many blessings have been heaped upon us, and when I look back, in spite of the recession and the banking crisis and the IMF bailout, there have been so many good things to be thankful for.

So, I say thank you!

Thank you dear blogger friends, for visiting here, for commenting ( I love your comments, one and all) and wishing you a wonderful 2011, a year filled with wonderful experiences, precious moments, health and peace.

  2. Wish I had've had room for a Millennium Tree! No space!

  3. Happy New Year dear Mimi.;)
What a lovely post - and what a great idea of planting a tree to mark an occasion. Indeed, there is nothing like the living that makes us see how time flies. The last ten years have flown way too quickly for me as well and yet so many changes took place in that span of time.;)
May 2011 be a very happy and a prosperous one, dear friend,
    xoxo

  4. For the most part I see the glass half full. I am wishing you a Happy New year full of many blessings.

I adored your Christmas decorations and how you mentioned each home made decoration that your children made.

  5. I like the yearly photo idea with your tree. It is scary when we become the smallest family member - why is it always us mums? A comforting thought is that we always have a giant role in our kids' lives.

Thank you for a year of getting to know you better. How wonderful to me that it was knitting that brought me to your blog - which I treasure - and you don't really knit! Some things are just meant to be.
May the New Year bring you health and happiness.

  6. Happy New Year, Mimi!

What a wonderful idea to plant a tree. It is amazing how quickly time passes. Reminds me to enjoy every single day, especially with all my little people running around. *sigh* They grow up too quickly!

    Have a wonderful 2011!

  7. Happy New Year to you too Mimi. I think planting trees is such a good idea. When Davy died he didn't want a grave because he didn't want everyone to be morbid and have to visit it all the time......so we planted a tree and buried his ashes underneath it. Is that cheating? Quite honestly, we don't care, we love his tree!
