Summer Stock Sunday

These guys know a good way to spend a summer's afternoon.

We spotted them when we were walking around Florence. Coudn't figure out if they were locals, or what the story behind their meeting spot is. Any guesses?

The next picture is the full scene, along the banks of the Arno, the little dots at the bottom of the picture are the card players. Sorry, I can't figure out how to make pictures enlarge in a blog post.

.

  3. I reckon they are definitely holidaymakers who meet up every year!

  4. It's always fun to have some mystery in a photo. There are so many stories waiting to be told here. Almost as much fun as eavesdropping on cell-phone conversations and trying to fill in the blanks.

  5. They look so tiny in the full shot! Every time I see the Arno I hear strains of opera songs sung by Sarah Brightman...I know it's mentioned in one line of one of her songs....

Those guys are well tanned! Like leather almost!

I love the blue umbrellas in the top photo. Nice angle on the photo.

  9. With tans that dark, they have to be locals at their regular poker game. What a setting they've chosen.

  12. I'll go for locals. How would you get all the gear and set up for a long session like that if you didn't know the area?

Love this shot - it has such a story behind it.
