Abandoned village of Port

Welcome March! You came just in the nick of time, when I was fed up of this winter, and needed the promise of new growth!
Apparently March is Irish-American Heritage Month, so happy IAHM to you all!
I want to share a wonderful Facebook page with you;
http://www.facebook.com/irelandandpegscottage
for anyone interested in photos of Ireland, they post the most wonderful photos, like this one

"The abandoned village of Port is an eerie place, hidden away from the world and almost off the map. It’s a ‘famine village’ which would once have been a thriving fishing port, spectacular in its isolation and beauty. There are fantastic views of the mountains and out over the Atlantic from here. Sheep are the only things you’ll see now in the fields of peat that dominate the landscape." (from http://www.facebook.com/irelandandpegscottage)

It's been an uneventful week here, work to home, work next day, that kind of thing.

today, and this is my 5 minute post!
Just back from visiting Jessee, and her post reminded me that we had one interesting event at school. One of the girls wasn't feeling well, and lucky for me naturally I directed her to the office, where the secretary would look after her. No sooner had I exited that office than she threw up, projectile, all over the place! halleluah that I wasn't there, even the thoughts of it makes me nauseous!

  1. Very quick thinking on your part to get her into someone else's care!

The photos are lovely...can I claim Irish-Canadian Heritage Month, too? LOL

  2. Hello Mimi,

Glad you got out of the way in the nick of time!

I have promised myself that I will get over to Ireland again one day. It's where my roots are and I would love to spend some time there and get to know the country. My grandmother's family came over during the famine and my father's family during the troubles in the 1920s. It's always problematic when England play Ireland in the 6 Nations.

    1. Fascinating how much Irish heritage you have Marianne, you will have to come over here and see some of those roots, and then we can meet up!

  3. Hahahaha! I'm not laughing because the student threw up, but a similar thing happened with me two weeks ago. When my fifth graders left the lab, they went back to their class and, 15 minutes later, headed for the library. Where one of the students threw up all over the library (it's carpeted like my lab) AND down the hall all the way to the nurse's office. I felt bad but my first thought was, "Thank God she did that in the library!" LOL

    1. Hahaha indeed. I think I would run away if she did it in my classroom. Seriously, even when my own kids threw up, I would have a clothes peg on my nose cleaning up, tho mostly hubby did the cleaning up

  4. Glad you escaped the vomiting! I expect the office was pleased you brought her in....... not!

Ireland is a very beautiful place with a charm of its own.

March...... officially Spring. We did have a better day today! Hopefully more to come.

  5. Oh man... I used to be able to manage throw up. I mean, I have four kids! Somehow my husband turned into the designated cleaner upper, thankfully. I get to comfort the kid, and he gets the dirty job of cleaning up. Ugh. Just thinking about it makes my stomach a little wobbly. What a beautiful picture... I've never been to Ireland, but I sure would like to go one day. Thanks for linking up! Hope to see you again next Friday :)
