I think it's a wonderful day for both countries, and hope it will be the start of a new future for us as neighbours. I think, in all the photos I've seen, the Queen is smiling broadly and looks really, genuinely happy to be here.

A tiny minority set out to cause trouble, but so far, the Gardai have done a fantastic job of keeping them at bay. They do not represent the majority, who fully support this visit.

And finally, I'm very late with this, but I also want to say that I really enjoyed watching this beautiful couple!
(photo from Daily Mail)

I loved the pomp, ceremony, fashion (though not some of the hats).
Most of all, I loved that Kate Middleton did her own make-up!
On her wedding day! even I didn't do that, and I had only a handful of people watching me, not 2 billion! She definitely won me over with that act!
This is a beautiful day! What a lovely way to honor what is going on here.
ReplyDeleteOh, and that Kate, she is quite the amazing lady, very comfortable in her own skin. It is a nice blend of royalty and common to have such a lady of her class be even more amazing than anyone could have dreamed.
She certainly has a lovely man to hold her heart too.
I love this post!
How amazing for you to bear witness to this historical event. Peace is so worth it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Kate is an exceptional young woman.
I hadn't heard that the Queen was paying you a visit, the papers here have been full of the regional goings on.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this is the start of a brighter, happier, more peaceful era for both your countries.
(And yes, Kate looked divine but some of those hats, dear god...)

I think the queen looks more and more like her mother by each year.;)
ReplyDeleteKate is very beautiful and I hope she will bring some tranquility with her beauty to the royal house.;)
Did not know she did her own make up.;) I did make up on my sister for her wedding day, as she came back from the stylist crying her eyes out saying she hated what the did to her.;) She loved the way she looked after I finished, so I guess I would probably also do my own, if that would ever be in the cards for me.;)
Have a lovely week dear Mimi,
xoxo
I've been watching a bit of the Queen's visit on the morning news. Hope this is just what is needed!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the wedding also!
So pleased the Queen was received so well. A really unique occasion.
ReplyDeletePEACE is what I hope and pray for.
It has certainly been a Royal year this year as THE WEDDING was lovely too.

Was great to see the Queen well received. Praying for peace.
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks quite lovely in these images.
I think Kate is perfect for William. She is down to earth and charming.
