I have 5 minutes to write this post; then it will be 1.30 in the morning, so I really will have to go to bed.
But I have the most exciting news and I want to share it with you, my dear blog friends.
I have performed my first solo!
The venue was fabulous; a church in Dublin, St. Michans, which has mummies in the basement and the organ on which Handel practised for the first performance of The Messiah.
There it is: technically it was soli, as there were two of us. I still can't believe I actually did it! felt so good afterwards to have conquered those nerve demons!
Thanks to the people who've dropped in and emailed asking if I'm ok. I'm great, and really sorry to have been absent from posting for so long. I've been practising and working hard, and blogging was the ball I couldn't keep in the air. But I have so many exciting things to share, and now that I've discovered you can write a post in 5 minutes, I'll be back!
see y'all soon!
I just realised that in the photo it's not soli, others are playing! A trumpet player took the photo from the balcony, for posterity, but obviously not at the time we were soli :(
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful - congratulations! And extra special too to have done it in a place with such august musical history.
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand place to perform. It's a good feeling when you overcome those nerves. Congratulations on a job well done.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is truly good to hear. It is a marvellous feeling after you've done it and you will be fine now when you have another opportunity to go solo.

Nuts in May
Well done you! I only wish I could have been there to hear it. I get all excited if I can play at our monthly workshops without making a bunch of errors. Nothing like what you've done. Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteBTW, the boy in my photo did become the chef. The older niece a wonderful operatic soprano and, the younger, a gifted entrepreneur.
Brilliant Mimi! What an achievement x
ReplyDeleteYay for you! And good to see you :). 5 minute posts are just fine!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Mimi, on your successful solo/soli!! And Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Mimi!! Yippee!! Congratulations on your solo, the first of many I am sure. Glad I popped round and discovered the good news - I'm little boy blue, of course, who blows his own horn (in my imagination), the cow's in the meadow and the sheep are in the corn!! LOL. I am back in Blogsville for a while.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas and a Great New Year to you, Mimi ~ Eddie x
