Winter with a bang!

My goodness, winter has arrived here, with a bang!

Beginning of last week, it was mild enough to go to work without a coat, and now, tonight, you'd need to be wrapped up with anything you can find to brave putting your nose outside the door!

And in between, we've had the most dreadful rain, lashings of it, bad floods that have put hundreds of people out of their homes, thunder and lightening, and now frost.

What has eluded us, my favourite of all, ..............SNOW!

But here's a cute little snowman on my Christmas burner oil, which is my giveaway to kick off the Christmas season.

Read more about it on this post.

If you'd like it, just leave a comment by midnight GMT on 2nd December. I'll pick a number (random selection) and the comment number that matches will get a comment on their blog. You then email me your snailmail address, and it'll be posted within a week, in plenty of time for Christmas. If you haven't responded within 2 days, the giveaway moves to the next number.

There it is, leave your comment!

  1. We have had rain...... rain & more rain! Today was sunny though and very cold.
I cannot believe that it is almost Christmas. Time gallops by!

    Nuts in May

  2. Clear and cold is just the sort of weather that I like for winter and at Christmas.
Today is good but we've had buckets of rain for almost the whole month. We haven't had any snow yet (yes!)- except in the mountains where it belongs. The ski hills have all opened and most are at least two weeks early.

  3. What an adorable little snowman!
We had some little tiny flakes of snow today, but nothing that stuck with us. Our temperatures have been unseasonably warm and I'm afraid we may not have a white Christmas. What a bummer!
I remember winters in Edinburgh, and if you are experiencing anything like that, I am sorry for you!! It is the one thing I do not and will never miss. :)

  4. Sounds yummy smelling!

  5. Those floods sound terrible, those poor people.

It never snows here. Up in the mountains it does, but in the center of the country never. My kids would give their eyeteeth for a snow day LOL.

  6. It happened here in Rome too. One minute we were skipping on cobblestones with a light jacket, and today our teeth chatter undre mufflers and fur. No snow, but the chilly wind reminds us of it.

Lovely post welcoming the holiday season. After all it's starting to feel like Christmas...

    Lola xx

  7. Mimi, thanks for commenting on my Wordless Wednesday post! And no, it hasn't snowed in NYC so far, thank goodness! :)

  8. Ooo I could do without the snow, Mimi, yet I remember the time when I absolutely loved it. I noticed buds on trees though, preparing for spring. That gives me heart!

  9. Mimi, I am so sorry that I missed your contest. And I am SO sorry about the weather you are having. It is so hard to go through severe weather changes like that. I feel so bad for all those people that have had their houses flooded. Were any of them near where you live? I hope the sun starts shinning again soon. And your oils are so wonderful, I think it is so fun that you make them yourself. This is one thing that I wouldn't even begin to know how to do.
Hope you have a great day, and talk to you soon!
